Creations by Angela Buxman

Welcome

As a child, my mind often focused on the details of ordinary objects that appeared in my everyday life. I found myself collecting pebbles, tree bark, and leaves-and would study their patterns for hours on end. When I was in my “tweens”, I began to interpret these images through two and three dimensional forms of media-such as charcoal, pastel, stippling, pencil, and clay. I was introduced to beads through inheriting my grandmothers costume jewelry. That’s really all it took! As my collection of beads and baubles quickly multiplied, I wanted to learn how I could use these gems to create my own jewelry. Since then, I have studied all forms of seed bead stitches and patterns, from traditional to contemporary.

My passion for beadwork has not waned, nor do I think it ever will. I find myself lost in thought about how I can manipulate certain bead stitches to create a look that I desire. When working on a project, I let the beads dictate where they need to go, rather than forcing them to do what I want. This allows the full creative process to flow without limits. I almost never sketch out a project before construction; it only constricts the potential of the piece. The ideas for a piece often come to me when I am totally relaxed- in waking, meditating, jogging, etc.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy!
